Dr. Joni Kroll, DAc
Dr. Joni Kroll, DAc first discovered acupuncture as a patient herself. In 1986, she visited a Chinatown acupuncturist who didn’t speak English, but certainly knew how to treat menstrual cramps. She left her first treatment not only without pain but also profoundly changed by the experience.
She discovered that a school on Oahu was beginning a new semester and she qualified for admission having already completed a pre-med program. She began classes in Oriental Medicine three weeks after her first acupuncture treatment. Dr. Joni graduated with honors from the Oriental Medical Institute in Honolulu, HI and opened Kailua Acupuncture Clinic in 1989.
Dr. Joni is board certified in acupuncture orthopedics and a Diplomat of the National Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She has successfully treated thousands of adults and children for allergies and asthma, often using Dr. Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET). She also specializes in the treatment of pregnant women, infertility, and menopause. In addition, she has trained at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in acupuncture for the cancer patient.
Dr. Joni is current Vice-Chair of the Hawaii State Board of Acupuncture, a past president of the Hawaii Acupuncture Association, a member of the American Association of Oriental Medicine and the National Sports Acupuncture Association, as well as co-founder of the non-profit AcuPlan Hawaii. Dr. Joni also volunteers and financially supports Acupuncturists Without Borders, and in the summer of 2010 completed their Healing Community Trauma Training: How to Do Acupuncture in the Field for Traumatic Events.
Favorite activities outside the clinic include playing tennis and volleyball and traveling with her husband of 28 years, Doug Kroll. She is also the proud mother of two adult sons.
Dr. Joni is honored to be of service to the community and is thoroughly invested in the well-being of her patients. Call today to schedule an appointment!
